Fana is the word for ‘annhilation’ in Persian. The bluesy, desolato first movement, the rhythmically charged polychordal texture of the second, followed by a virtuosic mayhem between the violin, piano, walking bass and drum set in the last movement push the violin in the direction of Charlie Parker and to its very limits of virtuosity.
